Dr. Constance Edwards – Recording Secretary

Connie EdwardsConstance L. Edwards, PhD, RN, Colonel (Retired), NWVU Vice-President, served in the Army Nurse Corps 30 years with 5 years active duty including 12 months in Vietnam and in the Army Reserve with tours of duty as Chief Nurse, 801st General Hospital and Brigade Chief Nurse, 30th Hospital Center, Ft. Sheridan. She is currently Associate Professor and former Nursing Program Director at Governors State University. She served as co-chair of the Chicago Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Parade Committee and the Illinois Veterans Advisory Council. She is an officer in the Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO), a member of the Military Officers Association of America and the Reserve Officers Association.

Frequent speaker on Women, nurses, and minorities in military service.

Instrumental in keeping military and veterans issues, staff preparation for revitalization of support for veterans in college course and peer support at the forefront on the campus of Governors State University. Completed Peer Support training for support of veterans to seek help for mental health issues.  Member of the Vietnam Veterans Parade 25th reunion Committee.  Currently co-host with Rochelle Crump of the National Women Veterans United call-in and discussion of women veterans issues on a CAN TV segment.
