CVO Director Frank B. Thompson III served in the US Navy from 1971 to 1983, achieving the rank of Commander. He flew F-4’s and served on the USS Enterprise in the Western Pacific and on the USS Forrestal in the Mediterranean. Upon leaving the Navy, he worked for US Steel on their computer systems and then for 34 years as an Engineer for the Chicago Board of Education. He has been involved in the Veterans Movement since 2007. He currently serves as the Commander of the Harold Washington American Legion Post 1987 and as the Commander of the 3rd District, American Legion for the City of Chicago, State of Illinois. Commander Thompson has been married for 33 years to Wanda Jean and they have 2 daughters, 2 sons and 13 grandchildren.
