The Wall that Heals: A Vietnam Memorial Replica in Des Plaines, Illinois

Veterans of Des Plaines are pleased to announce the arrival of “The Wall That Heals”, a traveling half size replica of Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C. at Des Plaines Park District’s Lake Park Pavilion on Lee Street between Touhy and Howard Avenues in Des Plaines. It will be open to the public 24 hrs./day, from evening of September 27th to October 1, 2017.

Opening Ceremony – September 28th at 5:00p.m.

Participants Include:

The Emerald Society Chicago Police Department Pipes & Drums Corps.,

Color Guard – St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, Singer – Jeff Blume,

Deacon James Ernst, Guest Speaker – General James Mukoyama,

Buglers Across America and other remembrances.

Friday, September 29th at 5:00p.m.

Ceremony presenting an opportunity for organizations/groups/families/individuals to present flower or wreaths in memory of individuals or on behalf of all Vietnam Veterans. Contact Tony Arredia 847-774-4622.

Candle Light Ceremony (Glow Sticks) Color Guards, Singer TBD, U.S. Army Chaplin Captain Father Matt Foley, Guest Speaker – TBD,

Huey helicopter flyover and Reading of local names from Lake Park Memorial Pavilion Wall and Closing with Taps.
