CVO Letter to Mayor Lightfoot on Soldier Field Naming Rights Proposal

Dear Mayor Lightfoot,

On behalf of the Coalition of Veteran Organizations (CVO), we would like to express our deep disappointment in the recent proposal to sell the naming rights to Soldier Field.

Soldier Field has been a monument to the men and women of our Armed Forces since November 11th, 1925. For nearly 100 years, and 15 mayoral administrations, the stadium has honored the sacrifices our veterans and servicemembers have made to defend our great nation. The proposal to abandon part of Chicago’s history and its commemoration of generations of servicemembers in favor of a financial benefit, is appalling.

CVO strongly opposes the proposal, and recommends reconsideration of any plans to pursue the monetization of Soldier Field’s naming rights. We would be happy to support the City of Chicago and your office in the identification of alternative options.

Thank you.
