Chicago offers a no-fee City Sticker for eligible veterans and a discount for senior citizens (age 65 and over). Veterans with a veteran designation on their Illinois ID or driver’s license can receive one free City Sticker for a passenger, large passenger, or motorbike vehicle. Seniors can get a discounted rate on passenger, large passenger, or motorbike vehicles and a separate discount on small trucks, provided they meet age and residency requirements.
No-fee City Sticker for veterans
- Eligibility: Must have a veteran’s designation on an unexpired Illinois Driver’s License or State ID.

Senior discounted City Sticker
- Eligibility:
- Age 65 or over.
- Name on the Illinois Driver’s License must match the name on the vehicle registration.
- Vehicle types and costs:
- Passenger (P), Large Passenger (LP), or Motorbike (MB): One discounted sticker for $35.37 per year.
- Small Truck (ST): One discounted sticker for $148.83 per year.
- How to get it:
- Present your unexpired Illinois Driver’s License or State ID and vehicle registration in person at a City Clerk sales location.
- Seniors with an Illinois State ID that does not expire must present it in person.
Important notes
- In-person application: You must visit a City Clerk’s Office in person to receive these discounts or fees.
- Previous stickers: No refunds are available for previously issued stickers.
