She is a former Ohio State Senator, college professor, public speaker, frequent media commentator and author, and was a national surrogate for Senator Bernie Sanders during the 2016 Democratic Presidential Primary. University of St. Thomas
Historian, professor, education activist and author .Dr. Williams is a professor of History Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas and was previously a professor of history and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University and former chief historian of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Dr. Williams is an education activist and noted scholar about the Civil Rights Movement and Black Power movement. Diverse magazine named Williams one of its Top 10 Emerging Scholars under 40 in 2009.
