Carlos Luna and Miguel Perez of the Green Card Veterans and CVO. Miguel, a combat veteran who served in Iraq, was deported to Mexico due to a criminal record although he had served honorably and lived in the U.S. since he was 8 years old. CVO made a donation to support his struggle to return to the U.S. and organized the veterans part of a Poor People’s Campaign action in Springfield, IL where Miguel’s parents addressed the crowd and called for his return. The Governor of California pardoned Miguel and he was able to return to this country and has become a naturalized citizen.
