Dr. Rory Tippit MD

Dr. Rory Tippit MD is a retired military medical leader with 21 years of service in the US Army. He currently serves as a Physician Executive overseeing medical affairs activities in North and South America for a large Chicago based global healthcare company and remains very active within the Veteran community.

Rory was born and raised in Newbury Berkshire, England. At the age of eighteen, he moved to the United States to join the US Military. After completing US Army basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Rory went on to complete one year of rigorous Biomedical Equipment Engineering training in Sheppard AFB, TX. After graduation he was assigned his duty position with the Army National Guard in Kansas City, KS. He also began working as a Biomedical Engineer with GE Healthcare in Kansas City where he worked and attended pre-med classes at night. In 2007 he was accepted into the Interservice PA Program (IPAP). This accelerated two year program allowed enlisted Army Sergeants like Rory at the time to attain a Bachelor and Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a Commission in the Army as an Officer. Shortly after PA school, Rory attended and graduated Medical School and went on to attend six years of additional post graduate medical training including the US Army Flight Surgeon School, multiple Advanced Trauma Training Programs, the Military Tropical Medicine Program at Walter Reed, and the Tactical Combat Medical Care course to name a few.

As a full time Army Officer Rory served as the Chief Medical Officer on a rapid response WMD Civil Support Team stationed on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ. For 8 years Dr. Tippit served as Joint Task Force Commander for the United Nations General Assembly, US Secret Service Mission. He volunteered as a healthcare provider to take care of Veterans at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center’s Emergency Room. In 2013 Rory Tippit Co-founded the Cooper Military Trauma Readiness Program (MTRP) with Trauma Surgeon, Dr/COL John Chovanes. This program allows health care providers from the military and other federal agencies the opportunity to train in a fast-paced civilian urban Level 1 Trauma Center, thereby maintaining their Trauma and Surgical Critical Care skills for when needed in combat. In 2016 Rory cofounded the Cooper Hospital, Special Operations Trauma Training Center (SOTT-C) and since that time he has trained hundreds Special Operations medics in the Trauma Surgical environment.

Over his 21 years of Military Service Rory has deployed to multiple stateside disaster events including hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Sandy, he has taught thousands of Army medics critical combat life saving skills. He has served on advisory boards for the 2015 Ebola outbreak and the Super Bowl 48 medical planning committee, and was a instrumental leader in the 2020 New Jersey Covid response.

Rory truly enjoys speaking with Veterans to hear their experiences while they were in the service and what they have done since. Rory is passionate about ensuring that Veterans have what they need to live long successful healthy lives after leaving the service.
