Chicago Veterans Team invite you to join us in celebrating the grand opening of the VetHub (5031 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago, IL) on February 20th at 1pm.
The VetHub will not only serve as the office for Chicago Veterans, but will also be used as a mentoring facility for Veterans needing assistance with laptops available for Chicago Veterans' Members to work on disability claims, education benefits, building a resume, finding employment or even starting their own business.
Commissioner Jeffrey Tobolski in partnership with the Cook County Department of Veteran Affairs and the Cook County Assessor’s Office will be hosting a seminar to assist veterans with the Disabled Veterans Exemption application process. Applications will be available from the Assessor’s Office beginning January 27th on the Cook County Assessor’s website.

The Walter Reed Foundation is sponsoring “Bridging the Gap Retreats” to support post 9/11 combat/deployment service members and veterans and their caregiver or primary support person in their journey of healing. This four-day relaxation and reconnection retreat, intended as a strong adjunct to VA/DoD services, will take place at the Union League Club Chicago, Chicago, Il. March 17-20, 2016.
Worth Fighting For Chicago Public High School Tour featuring Rory Fanning Sponsored by The Chicago Teachers Union & The Chicago Chapter of Veterans for Peace. Rory will visit CPS high schools throughout the 2015/2016 school year in the hopes of helping students make a more informed decision before joining the military. These speaking visits will help serve as much-needed space in which students can come together for important and timely discussions about the fourteen-year-old global war on terror, the motivations behind these wars, and what those who are fighting in them are expected to do.

The next Town Hall meeting for veterans will be held at Jesse Brown VAMC on this Thursday, December 17th at 10 AM in the 2nd floor Conference Room. Veterans with questions about the policies, service or facilities at Jesse Brown or any of its satellite clinics should attend and ask questions of the staff and administration.
