CVO is participating in the night to honor those who served at the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum. We need at least two volunteers to attend the event this coming Friday from 6 to 10 PM. CVO will provide the table and materials for the volunteers.

A letter was sent to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Erik Shinkseki expressing our concern over the life-threatening difficulties encountered with the VA Crisis Hot Line. Copies were also sent to the VA Inspector General, the entire Illinois Congressional Delegation, and the National Commanders of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

The Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County recognized Rick Murray, a United States Army Paratrooper, who served during the Korean War, and best know for his beautiful bass voice, singing "The Star Spangled Banner and America The Beautiful".
Ald. James Balcer (11th), a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Marines Corps, sponsored a resolution calling for a hearing on "the alarming rate of suicide amongst veterans," and the Human Relations Committee will hold that hearing at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Council Chamber.
