Military Service Pass
Active U. S. Military personnel in full uniform and presenting their United States Armed Forces ID, or personnel and qualifying disabled veterans with a Military Service Pass may ride free on CTA buses and trains—we’ve provided free rides for over 8,000 veterans in the area we serve!

Have a Military Service Pass?
Please be aware that the CTA are switching from the current magnetic strip card to the new Ventra™ Military Service Pass. The transition is occurring through November 27, 2013.
Need a replacement?
If you have a Military Service Pass and it’s lost, stolen, damaged or captured by fare equipment, you can get it replaced at CTA Headquarters (567 W. Lake Street, Chicago) through November 13, 2013.
Switch to the new Ventra Military Service Pass in November
Bring your current CTA Military Service Pass to any of these events to exchange it for a new Ventra Military Service Pass. If you don’t have a Military Service Pass, please bring your Armed Forces I.D. and/or proof of compensation if you are receiving disability retirement pay of 10% or greater. A new photo will be taken and your new card will be issued on-site.

Veterans who’ve never had a Military Service Pass before can go to one of the above locations to sign up and get a new Ventra Military Service Pass (see the FAQ below for information about qualifications and what to bring). A photo will be taken and you’ll have a card given to you on-site.
