November 2014 CVO Meeting @ Jesse Brown VA

The next meeting of the Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO) will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 10 AM to 12:30 PM at the Jesse Brown VA in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.

We will have parking validation.

We will have a presentation on Discharge Upgrades by Ray Parrish. Ray is a long-term member of CVO, a trained Veteran Service Officer (VSO) and an expert on Discharge Upgrades. Don’t miss his presentation!

We’ll also have updates on all the CVO activities.

As always, Coffee and Donuts will be served.

We’ll start on time, so plan to arrive early.

The CVO Veterans Against Violence Committee will meet this Saturday, January 10th at 10 AM at John Newsom’s place at 550 E 50th Place, Chicago IL 60615. His number is 312-206-6517.

The agenda will include what is going on in Chicago, Communities we can work in, Sending representatives to actions and meetings to End Violence, and Strategic decisions on how to proceed.

January 2015 CVO Meeting @ Jesse Brown VA Medical Center

The next meeting of CVO will be from 10 AM to 12:30 PM on this Saturday, January 17th, at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. We meet in the 2nd floor Prescription Room next to the Director’s Office. Parking in the garage will be validated.

The agenda will include a presentation on the Milwaukee-based Veterans Employment Alliance, an in-depth discussion of the direction of CVO in the coming year, reports from all our committees, plans for the 2015 CVO fundraiser, and more. Be prepared to step up and be counted as a member of CVO. Renew your 2015 membership online or at this meeting. Members will receive our new Brochure and our new pamphlet on the CVO Veterans Program hot off the press!

The Coalition of Veterans Organizations (CVO) will meet on this Saturday, February 21st, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM in the Prescription Conference Room of Jesse Brown VA (820 S Damen) on the second floor. Parking in the garage will be validated.

It’s Black History Month, so we’ll have a presentation by the 555th Parachute Infantry Association. They represent the first African American Paratroopers. We’ll have displays and a presentation. Be sure to be there!

We’ll also hear from the City Treasurer, Kurt Summers. We’ll discuss the upcoming CVO Fundraiser on May 2nd, The NWVU Gala and the VACCC Corned Beef Dinner, both on March 21st and CVO nominations at the March meeting. We’ll collect dues, and hear from our committees.

As always, coffee and donuts will be served.

The agenda includes nominations for the CVO Executive Committee, a presentation on the 50th Anniversary of the start of the Vietnam War by Ray Parrish, a presentation from Oak Street Health and their Veterans’ program, a discussion of the May 2nd Fundraiser, and more. Be sure to be there for this important meeting!!

Oak Street Health is providing coffee and refreshments.

One Savvy Veteran is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded April 2014 by a woman veteran to meet the needs of fellow women warriors. Our mission is to encourage, educate and empower women veterans to successfully navigate the transition from military service to civilian life. We are a source of support, advocacy, assistance and access to veteran-specific information and resources for women veterans in Illinois.

All donations are tax deductible and go directly towards assisting women veterans in crisis.
