The next meeting of CVO will be this Wednesday, October 18th at 7 PM in the Prescription Conference Room on the 2nd Floor of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center at 820 S Damen Ave in Chicago. Parking will be validated.
The agenda will include a presentation, a welcome for new members and a discussion of all the events and special deals for Veterans Day, November 11th.

The next meeting of CVO will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on this Wednesday, November 15th, at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. We meet in the 2nd floor Prescription Room (far north section of the building). Parking in the garage may be validated.
The agenda will include a scheduled presentation entitled “Mexican Americans in America’s Defense”, reports from selected committees: (Executive, Homelessness, Newsletter, Veterans Affairs, Legal Support), and helpful information. The first meeting of CVO in 2018 will be held on Wednesday, January 17th at 7 PM in the 2nd floor Conference Room of the Jesse Brown VA Hospital at 820 S Damen Ave in Chicago. Arrive early if you are interested in the committees and catching up on what CVO is doing; members of the Executive Committee will be there by 6 PM.
The agenda is really exciting! We’re going to start with a presentation by veteran activist Aaron Hughes on the Right to Heal Campaign. Then we are going have Bill Luna back to make another presentation on Latino veterans. We will also be giving out coupons for free haircuts at the Hair Cuttery.

Student veterans as well as veterans from throughout the community are invited to attend the Veterans Resource Fair, presented by Triton College Career Services.
The Veterans Resource Fair is Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room B-204/210 of the Triton College Student Center, located on the west side of campus, 2000 Fifth Ave., River Grove.
The event is free to attend and lunch will be served to all veterans.
Organizations and companies will be on hand to share information and help connect veterans with services and resources including housing assistance, disability and pension claims, health screenings and more. The event will include a free lunch for all veterans.

The next meeting of the Coalition of Veterans Organizations will be held in the 2nd floor Conference Room of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center at 7 PM on this Wednesday, February 21st.
The Executive Committee will meet at 6 PM in the same location. If you want to attend and see what the Executive Committee does, arrive at 6 PM.
The Agenda for the Membership Meeting will include a presentation on “The Right to Heal Campaign,” a campaign against the increasing privatization of the VA. We will also have reports on the Veterans Against Violence Campaign, the CVO struggle for Dental Care for Veterans and other issues of importance to Veterans and their families.

LaShun James will make a presentation on Addus Homecare for Veterans. This is an important medical issue for Veterans, so be sure to come and hear LaShun.
Also, nominations will be held for the Executive Committee. All nominations must be made at this meeting. The elections to the CVO Executive Committee will be held at the April meeting.

At this meeting we will share our plans to build the campaign locally and how we are working to coordinate nationally. We also want to hear from you on why you want to join the fight to save the VA from privatization. RSVP today to join us at our Veteran & Community Meeting.
Since our March 1st program we have been busy! Hundreds of you called your representatives on our Save the VA Call In Day; We had delegations visit staffers at Senator Durbin’s, Senator Duckworth’s, and Representative Quigley’s Offices; With SEIU Healthcare and AFGE 789 we demanded that Rear Adm. Jackson and President Trump state unequivocally that the Administration will not pursue an agenda to privatize the VA in anyway shape or form; We hosted a panel on the issues and our campaign at the Labor Notes Conference; And we’ve gotten press coverage in a handful of great outlets. But we still have our work cut out for us.
With all the turmoil resulting from Secretary Shulkin’s dismissal and Trump’s overt plans to privatize the VA, now is the time to get organized. Join the fight to save the VA. RSVP today to join us at our Veteran & Community Meeting.

Donald Evans of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) which organizes workers at Jesse Brown, will make a presentation on the Right to Heal Campaign. Bruce Parry will update the members on the Right to Heal meeting held on this past Saturday and on other activities involving CVO.
