VA Medical Center to Host Vietnam Veteran Commemoration
The Jesse Brown Veterans Health Care System (JBVHCS) and the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) are collaborating to host a Vietnam Veteran Commemoration.

Join JBVHCS and IDVA on January 18, 2018 as we honor our heroes!
Each Vietnam Veteran will receive the Commemoration Pin during the ceremony.
Eligibility: Living United States Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975 (regardless of location) are eligible to receive one lapel pin.

The next meeting of the Coalition of Veterans Organizations will be held in the 2nd floor Conference Room of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center at 7 PM on this Wednesday, February 21st.
The Executive Committee will meet at 6 PM in the same location. If you want to attend and see what the Executive Committee does, arrive at 6 PM.
The Agenda for the Membership Meeting will include a presentation on “The Right to Heal Campaign,” a campaign against the increasing privatization of the VA. We will also have reports on the Veterans Against Violence Campaign, the CVO struggle for Dental Care for Veterans and other issues of importance to Veterans and their families.
Light refreshments will be served. Parking will be validated.

The next meeting of CVO will be held at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in the 2nd floor Conference Room on this Wednesday, March 21st at 7 PM. The Executive Committee will meet before hand at 6 PM. All are invited. Executive Committee members are encouraged to be on time.
CORRECTION: There will not be an Executive Committee meeting on March 21, 2018 CVO meeting.
LaShun James will make a presentation on Addus Homecare for Veterans. This is an important medical issue for Veterans, so be sure to come and hear LaShun.
Also, nominations will be held for the Executive Committee. All nominations must be made at this meeting. The elections to the CVO Executive Committee will be held at the April meeting.

The next meeting of CVO will be held at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in the 2nd floor Conference Room on this Wednesday, April 18th at 7 PM.
We will hold elections to the Executive Committee.
Angela Turner-Susberry will make a presentation to veterans showing that they need to take care of their arrangements in advance, thereby taking the burden off their families. They can share this information with their family and friends.
Donald Evans of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) which organizes workers at Jesse Brown, will make a presentation on the Right to Heal Campaign. Bruce Parry will update the members on the Right to Heal meeting held on this past Saturday and on other activities involving CVO.

The next meeting of the Coalition of Veterans Organizations will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, 820 S Damen in the 2nd Floor Conference Room. The meeting will start at 7 PM, but refreshments and CVO leaders will be there at 6 to discuss issues with anyone who comes early. Also, the pizza will be hotter then, than during the meeting.
The key agenda point will be a presentation and discussion around the 1932 Bonus March, the Civil Rights Campaign of the 1950s and 60s, the Human Rights Campaign, the original Poor People’s Campaign in 1968, and the new “Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival” of today. CVO is participating in the Poor People’s Campaign on Monday, May 28th (Memorial Day). Find out all about it!
Pizza will be served. Get parking in the garage validated as you enter from Ogden Ave.

Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade honors all men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.
The Wreath Laying Ceremony will begin at 11am at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza (Dearborn and Washington Streets). The parade will step off at noon and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street.
The next meeting of CVO is on Wednesday, June 20th at 7 PM at Jesse Brown VA (820 S Damen in Chicago) in the 2nd floor Conference Room.
The agenda will include an update on the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, and an update on the CVO Flipcause Fundraising Campaign. We will also talk about the struggle against VA privatization.
Additionally, we will have a report on the fight for Dental Care for veterans. Attendees are encouraged to bring in any article, email, or other communication from a national veterans’ organization regarding HR 4556 on Dental Care. We need to see what other organizations are doing about this issue.
