In partnership with World Sport Chicago’s Valor Games Midwest 2012, the American Freedom Foundation and CareerBuilder will be holding the Veterans Career Hiring Expo at Soldier Field in Chicago on August 13. This event will bring together major companies from throughout the Midwest to profile their services and provide employment opportunities for our Veterans. Attending Veterans will have the chance to talk with employers, submit qualifications, and even participate in job interviews on the spot. Attendance at the Veterans Career Hiring Expo is free and open to Veterans and active duty military.
The CareerBuilder Professional Team will provide resources to attract Veterans who are interested in exploring new career opportunities. They will also provide specific sourcing and screening services where Veterans will be paired with prospective employers based on profiles they are interested in hiring. CareerBuilder will provide full management and facilitation at the Veterans Career Hiring Expo and an opportunity for 1 on 1 interviews on site.
World Sport Chicago, in partnership with U.S. Paralympics, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Chicago Park District, hosts the Valor Games Midwest in an effort to aid successful community reintegration through sport and healthy, active lifestyles. Over the course of three days, athletes will compete in the sports of field, cycling, archery, power lifting and indoor rowing. Participating athletes’ disabilities may include: amputation/limb loss, spinal cord injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injuries, visual disabilities or post traumatic stress disorder. Please join Congresswoman Robin Kelly for her Veteran Workshop featuring two panel discussions. The first panel discussion focusing on Veteran access to housing will feature experts providing advice for veteran homeowners. The second panel will focus on finding carriers after service and transitioning your skills from service into the private and public sector. Representatives from federal and local agencies, as well as, Veteran Service Organizations will be present to provide assistance with benefit claims and answer questions.

MPMA, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit veteran service organization established in June 1966 to perpetuate the legacy of the first African Americans who entered the Marine Corps. Our membership is open to veterans of all of the Armed Forces. Our purpose is to support education, advocate veteran programs, and promote community service. Now in existence for close to fifty years, MPMA, Inc. continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the community.
In order to meet our mission and provide services within our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses. Proudly sponsored by 6th District Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy, VITAS Healthcare, Dignity Memorial and the Alsip Double Tree Hotel by Hilton, all branches of serviceman and women will be honored at the ceremony and celebration, Thursday October 13, 2016.
The 6th Annual “Salute to the Armed Forces” will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton in Alsip located at 5000 W. 127th Street. All branches of serviceman and women will be honored for serving their Country with pride and dedication at a ceremony, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 1 p.m. Doors open at 12:00p.m. All Honorees must pre-register to attend.
A Free Patriotic celebration to salute our Armed Forces Service Men and Women. Share in an afternoon of fellowship and appreciation for your courage and dedication. Those that have served in the United States Armed Forces in war time and peace time will be honored for their contribution and sacrifice to our great Nation. This celebration is proudly presented by Cook County Commissioner Joan Patricia Murphy, Vitas Healthcare, Dignity Memorial, and Double Tree Hotel by Hilton.
All branches of military service men and women will receive an Honorary “Salute Certificate” and custom designed Brass Commemorative Pin. The Ceremony of Appreciation will also include a Patriot program, POW-MIA Remembrance Service, noted guest speakers, patriot entertainment and Color Guard presentation. Refreshments will be served to all honorees and guests.

The County Department of Veterans Affairs will host a Veterans Affairs Outreach Forum on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Brookfield Zoo, Swan Pavilion. In addition to the Veterans Outreach forum, there will be a picnic for Veterans and their families. You must RSVP to be a part of the Veterans Picnic. Please share this information with other veterans and veteran organizations.
